Comics and Medicine conference: Ill-Conceived and Well-Drawn exhibit, curated by Ellen Forney on display at CCS and Dartmouth Library

The 9th annual Comics and Medicine conference will be exhibiting Ill-Conceived and Well-Drawn, curated by Ellen Forney. The conference runs August 16-18th. The exhibit will be on display at The Center for Cartoon Studies prior to the conference and at Dartmouth College Baker-Berry Library during the Comics and Medicine conference from August 8th-24th.

Graphic Medicine Conference

The Graphic Medicine Conference has been an annual gathering across North America and the United Kingdom since 2010. And in 2018, the venue is at The Center for Cartoon Studies!

London, 2010, was hosted at the School of Advanced Study, Institute of English Studies, University of London. The keynote speakers were Paul Gravett (editor of The Mammoth Book of Best Crime Comics, 2008), Brian Fies (Mom’s Cancer, 2006), and Marc Zaffran.

CCS Spring Eisner Lecture: Ellen Forney

Cartoonist Ellen Forney is the author of NYT bestseller Marbles: Mania, Depression, Michelangelo, and Me, and the 2012 “Genius Award” winner in Literature from Seattle’s The Stranger. She collaborated with Sherman Alexie on the National Book Award-winning novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, created the Eisner-nominated comic books I Love Led Zeppelin and Monkey Food, and has taught comics at Cornish College of the Arts since 2002.
