Stepping Stones by Lucy Knisley ′09

Lucy Knisley ′09, a champion of the autobio genre, has been branching out in the last year releases like her children’s picture book, You Are New (Chronicle Books). And with Stepping Stones, from Random House Graphic, she is fully stepping into the fictional realm. As Lucy puts it in an interview with Shelf Awareness, ” The fact that the main character is a ginger girl who reads comics and doesn’t like snakes and is bad at math is all coincidental!” The story is inspired from her own childhood in an amazing journey of unlikely friends, sisters, and home. This is the first in a trilogy, Peapod Farm.

“You Are New” by Lucy Knisley ′09 a New York Times Best Children’s Book of 2019

The New York Times has released its top 25 children’s books of 2019, and You Are New (Chronicle Books) by Lucy Knisley ′09 has been selected. The list includes other great cartoonists such as Dylan Meconis for Queen of the Sea (Walker Books), Sara Varon for Hold Hands (First Second), Raina Telgemeier for Guts (Scholastic), and Ryan Andrews for This Was Our Pact (First Second).

This Land Is My Land by Andy Warner ′12 and Sofie Louise Dam

Andy Warner ′12 is hot on his own heels. In 2016, Andy Warner ′12 he released Brief Histories of Everyday Objects (Picador). Now he is promptly following it up with This Land is My Land with Sofie Louise Dam. Coming in May 2019 from Chronicle Books, this new nonfiction book is about thirty self-made utopias found around the globe: “from the Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea Islands to the Indian rock garden of Nek Chand. . . .”

Lucy Knisley’s ′09 New Children’s Book, “You Are New”

Straight on the heals of her book about having a baby, Kid Gloves (First Second), Lucy Knisley ′09 is releasing a children’s book about being a baby, You Are New (Chronicle Books). Coming in March, You Are New is Lucy’s second children’s book. Margaret and the Moon (Knopf Books, 2017), written by Dean Robbins, is about Margaret Hamilton, who, in 1964, went to work for NASA and became the director of Software Programming for Project Apollo.
