Summer Workshops Now Online

Keep safe, keep creative, and keep creating comics!

White River Junction, Vermont – As the world shelters in place, The Center for Cartoon Studies is bringing its full roster of fun and insightful summer workshops online. Starting in June, each workshop will feature live lectures and demos, fun and challenging assignments, and supportive feedback with experienced teachers and cartoonists. To ensure a dynamic hands-on learning environment, enrollment will be limited to 12-16 students per class.

Workshop independent comic projects with instructors Jon Chad and Luke Howard!

Cartoon Studio Workshop is back by popular demand! Workshop students get 24-hour access to the production lab and studio. Students also have access to The Schulz Library, with full borrowing privileges. Cartoon Studio students workshop independent projects through a number of lectures, activities, and critiques. During this workshop students are given the know-how, materials and equipment to publish their own comics. Register online!

ComicsJam Italia Contest

Meraviglioso! CCS is partnering with Ferragamo Museum along with local Florence Scuola Internazionale Di Comics and others for a special International Comics Competition, June 19th in Florence, Italy. Judges include Michelle Ollie! Prizes include a Center for Cartoon Studies summer workshop scholarship. The contest is in conjunction with a special comics exhibit, featuring original pages from a graphic novel  by Frank Espinosa about the history of Salvatore Ferragamo.

Create Comics Scholarship

CCS has teamed up with the Vermont Department of Libraries once again to offer one student (ages 16 and up) a scholarship to attend the Create Comics Summer Workshop at the Center for Cartoon Studies, July 8-12. Can’t wait for the summer to start!
