Summer Workshops Announced!

Workshops are a great time for cartooning adventures! Brush up on some skills, learn new ones, or discover the world of cartooning for the first time ever. This summer we’re offering an exciting line-up, including Create Comics, the return of college-level Cartooning Studio, Graphic Memoir, and the Graphic Novel Workshop.

Get started making comics with Luke Howard (Our Mother) and Jon Chad (Leo Geo and Science Comics: Volcanoes), both are instructors at The Center for Cartoon Studies.  This summer from July 15–19, you can work with other new comic creators to produce an anthology in 5 days.

Summer Workshop Scholarships

Summer Workshop Registration is Open!

Did you know about the scholarships for CCS Summer Workshops? The workshops are coming up and if you are looking to get some help to attend, it’s possible! You can get a needs-based scholarship to help cover the cost of the class tuition through The Center for Cartoon Studies.

There are currently two scholarships. One is a general scholarship (up to 40%), which is dependent on annual household income. This is one a first-come-first-served basis; funds are allocated per class. Second is an Upper Valley–specific scholarship for those located in the vicinity of the school.

Create Comics Workshop next session: July 24-28!

Create Comics Summer Workshop is a ‘boot camp’ for cartoonists. The 5-day workshop packs in the essentials for producing your own comics. For ages 16+

In Create Comics Workshop you will learn about story structure, page composition, pacing, materials and techniques, character design, environmental drawing, and comic production! Collaborate on a comic anthology that you will self-publish during the workshop. Create Comics summer workshop is for both beginner and advanced students age 16 and over! Come learn about comics!

Vermont Teens: Win A Scholarship Create Comics Workshop!

For the eighth year in a row, The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) has donated a full scholarship to the Vermont Department of Libraries so a Vermont teen can attend the Create Comics summer workshop camp.

Create Comics is a ‘boot camp’ for cartoonists. The 5-day workshop packs in the essentials for producing your own comics. Through lectures, exercises, and group projects, students learn about story structure, page composition, pacing, materials and techniques, character design, drawing, environmental drawing, and production. Students collaborate on a comic anthology that they self-publish during the workshop. Create Comics is for both beginner and advanced students age 16 and over.

Any Vermont student age 16 or older is eligible. This year the workshop will take place in White River Junction, Vermont, June 20-24 or July 11-15, 2016.
