Cartoonist Studio Prize, Slate & The Center for Cartoon Studies

Each year the Cartoonist Studio Prize will be awarded to work that exemplifies excellence in cartooning. The creators of two exceptional comics will be awarded $1000 each.

Winners are selected by the Schulz Library, The Bear, and the faculty and students of The Center for Cartoon Studies.

Eisner Awards

The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards are considered the “Oscars” of the comics world. Named for the pioneering comics creator and graphic novelist Will Eisner, the awards are given out in more than two dozen categories during a ceremony each year at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

Ignatz Awards

The Ignatz Awards, named for the character in the classic comic strip Krazy Kat by George Herriman, is a festival prize that recognizes outstanding achievement in comics and cartooning. The ballot is created by a panel of five cartoonists and is voted on by the attendees of the SPX festival.

Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship

Rewards include a $5,000 scholarship and a trip to Las Vegas to meet the top names in cartooning. While the website states that applicants must be students at a 4-year college in the United States, Canada or Mexico who will be a Junior or Senior during the 2012-2013
academic year, CCS students have been allowed to apply in the past.
