Visiting Artist: Sam Alden and Sophie Yanow


Sophie Yanow is The Center for Cartoon Studies 2014-15 Fellow. She was born north of San Francisco. In 2011 she moved to Montreal, and with Colosse collective published In Situ, her acclaimed autobiographical comics series. She was an invited artist-researcher for the Canadian Center for Architecture’s “C for Condo” workshop, and participated in projects such as the the 48 Heures de la Bande Dessinée, the strike related online Manif de Bonhommes, and La Hausse en Question strike zine. Her work has been exhibited throughout the US and Canada.

Visiting Artist: T. Edward Bak


T. Edward Bak was born in Denver, Colorado in 1970.  He wrote and drew the comic strip Service Industry for three years in the Athens newspaper Flagpole. Bak’s comics have been published by Bodega Distribution and Sparkplug Comic Books, and he has contributed to anthologies such as Project: Romantic (AdHouse Books), Studygroup 12, Drawn & Quarterly Showcase and Houghton-Mifflin’s Best American Comics 2008.  His newest book, Island of Memory, was released by Floating World Comics.  Bak was a fellow at The Center for Cartoon Studies in 2008-09.
