Ruben Bolling at The Center for Cartoon Studies talking to Luke Howard

Ruben Bolling provided the students with a very funny presentation. Uproarious even. He is the creator of Tom the Dancing Bug, a “free-form, sketch comedy-style” weekly comic strip.

A taste of Ruben’s work

Ruben was a great representative for the strip cartoonist because he worked through the transition from newspapers to the internet. He was doing pretty well with print newspapers at the time, so he was in the first generation who made the transition. Due to this situation, he has his own weird, custom web presence.

But mostly, he was really excited to be in a room of cartoonists.

Robyn-Brooke Smith (′17), Jarad Greene (′17), and Laura Martin (′17) find it a clap-worthy experience.

Dan Nott (′16), Mary Shyne (′16), Rainer Kannenstine (′16), and Erienne McCray (′16) also feel the need to clap.

These notes by Moss Bastille (′17) might not get down the whole story, but they sure are beautiful.

Of course, the notes from Sandra Bartholomew (′17) are beautiful and informative.
