Seniors & Zinesters: Tell It Like It Tiz!

tellit

Since October 2006, Marc Parker and 2013 CCS Fellow Nicole Georges have been facilitating a weekly zine workshop at the Marie Smith Center, a day center for functionally or cognitively-impaired seniors in Portland, OR. In collaboration with the clients at the MSC, they’ve produced three issues of Tell It Like It Tiz, blending storytelling and art therapy to give the participants a home for their stories. With all three issues out of print, the next step is to compile them, plus over sixty pages of new material into one beautiful book. Lend your support to the project by visiting their Kickstarter site.

One of the many wonders of The Center for Cartoon Studies Schulz Library is having several of Raina’s self-published mini-comics in the zine collection. Raina’s most recent book, Smile, is about her battle within her own mouth.
