It’s that time of year when the ink and sweaters come out. Inktober! When artists take the month of October to create an ink drawing every day. There is an official prompt list from the instigator of this hallowed tradition, Jake Parker (Little Bot and Sparrow), but plenty of people make it their own. It is one of the best months for finding new artists to follow on Instagram.

The Berlin Project

Jason Lutes and his new collection of Berlin originals from peers and students.

This fall, the third and final volume of Jason Lutes’s epic Berlin trilogy is being released (through Drawn and Quarterly). It is a big accomplishment and rightly deserves some hearty congratulations. To celebrate, Jason’s coworker and fellow CCS teacher Luke Howard ′13 pulled together a super secret project where over of Jason’s peers and students drew their own version of more than the first 6 chapters of Berlin. Keep an eye out online—lots of contributors (159!) have been posting their work, which is especially interesting when they include the original page.

Non-Fiction Comics Mini-Fest in Vermont

The Non-Fiction Comics Mini-Fest is back on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Vermont Folklife Center in Middlebury, Vermont. Plenty of folks from The Center for Cartoon Studies will be there: Sandy Bartholomew ′17, Iona Fox ’15, and Stephanie Zuppo ’15 are all going to be there tabling.
