A conversation with Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Jules Feiffer

White River Junction, Vermont – Dartmouth College and The Center for Cartoon Studies partner to host a lecture with Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Jules Feiffer.

Feiffer’s remarkable creative career spans over fifty years from Village Voice editorial cartoons, as seen in Explainers: The Complete Village Voice Strips, 1956-1966 (Fantagraphics Books), to his plays and screenplays including Little Murders and Carnal Knowledge.

Feiffer’s visit to The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) in White River Junction includes a lecture with CCS students, and a public lecture at Dartmouth College:

Book signing to follow. Norwich Bookstore will be selling copies of Feiffer’s books.

The first cartoonist commissioned by The New York Times to create comic strips for their Op-Ed page, Feiffer has since shifted his focus towards writing and illustrating books for children and young adults, including A Room with a Zoo and The Man in the Ceiling, soon to become a Broadway musical produced by Walt Disney.

Feiffer won a Pulitzer Prize and a George Polk Award for his cartoons; an Obie for his plays; an Academy Award for the animation of his cartoon satire, Munro; and Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Writers Guild of America and the National Cartoonist Society. Feiffer has taught at the Yale School of Drama and Northwestern University and has been honored with major retrospectives at the New York Historical Society, Library of Congress, and the School of Visual Arts.
