Description:

Do you have the beginnings of a graphic novel but need some help getting it off the ground? Do you have a story, fiction or nonfiction, you’ve always wanted to tell using comics? Is your cartooning stuck in a rut, ready to move up to another level? Put everything else aside and only work on your comics for a week straight! Workshop instructor Paul Karasik is a cartoonist (The New YorkerCity of Glass), a comics scholar (I Shall Destroy All The Civilized PlanetsHow To Read Nancy), and a renowned teacher who really knows how to take good cartoonists and make them better. During the five-day workshop, students will participate in lectures, collaborative exercises, book discussion sessions, events, and group critiques, with the goal of producing the first draft of a longer comics project.       Key Takeaways:

Required Materials:

Provided on-campus, but feel free to bring any supplies you like using as well.

Optional for-credit: Workshop can be taken for 2 undergraduate credits. Please check with the Program Chair or Registrar at your college or university before registering to see if the credits will be accepted. To enroll for-credit, students must select the additional for-credit tuition of $400 at registration and have an official transcript from their current institution sent to: Registrar The Center for Cartoon Studies PO Box 125 White River Junction, VT 05001

Refund policy: Tuition is refundable up until 3 weeks prior to the first day of the workshop, minus a $50 fee and any fees assessed by processor. Tuition is non-refundable after that date.
