Tuition: $1075

Ages: 18+

Venue: Online

Description:

This course with CCS faculty Kori Michele Handwerker is a deep dive into how color is used in comics and an opportunity to develop methods for enhancing your comics storytelling and design with color. Through lectures, demonstrations, readings, discussions, and hands-on comic color exercises, we will ramp up your practical comics coloring toolbox! To accommodate the remote format, we will work with digital tools to exercise our color in comics-making, but the conceptual color tools we learn will be applicable to any medium you choose!

Required Materials:

Either Adobe Photoshop OR Clip Studio Paint (full and updated PC/MAC versions) – coloring exercises can be conducted in either one and will be supported simultaneously (If you choose to use tablet versions or other coloring programs, your professor may not be able to offer technical or instructional support!)

Additional information:

This isn’t a how-to-draw-comics course, and you don’t need to be an advanced cartoonist to explore color study with us.  All levels of comics experience are welcome. Students are provided classroom link and access to the course site 1 week prior to the start of the workshop. Optional for-credit: Workshop can be taken for 2 undergraduate credits. Please check with the Program Chair or Registrar at your college or university before registering to see if the credits will be accepted. To enroll for-credit, students must select the additional for-credit tuition of $400 at registration and have an official transcript from their current institution sent to: Registrar The Center for Cartoon Studies PO Box 125 White River Junction, VT 05001 Refund policy: Tuition is refundable up until 3 weeks prior to the first day of the workshop, minus a $50 fee and any fees assessed by Eventbrite. Tuition is non-refundable after that date.
