NEW! COMICS 101 online winter workshop

October 1, 2025

Taught by Eisner-award winning cartoonist and renowned comics instructor Ivan Brunetti, COMICS 101 will cover the basics of cartooning using exercises and assignments from Brunetti’s groundbreaking workbook Cartooning: Philosophy and Practice.

This online, synchronous class has space for 24 students, twice the number of seats in our in-person summer workshops. While there will not quite be the same level of one-on-one interaction, the instructor (and T.A.) will provide feedback on a few student assignments each week, making sure that over the six weeks, all students receive comments on their work.

Our hope is that COMICS 101 will be a more affordable, accessible way for folks to start learning about cartooning, so they can get to work making their comics!

Two seats will be awarded as merit scholarships, designed to support the professional development of cartoonists living in the United States of America. Applicants of historically marginalized communities are strongly encouraged to apply. The scholarship deadline is 11/6. Click here to apply for a scholarship!
