Longstreth’s Weezer Concert Art & Kickstarter for Isle of Elsi

Our Outreach Director Alec Longstreth is back from creating tour art for the band, Weezer. Longstreth created more than 700 illustrations and about 100 animated loops for the band’s Indie Rock Roadtrip tour.

“Weezer is my all-time favorite band, so it was a real honor for me to get to illustrate the tour poster for this summer’s tour,” said Alec. “The band and their management team liked it so much that I was then hired to be the lead artist for all the concert visuals that play behind the band during their performances. It’s been super rewarding seeing so many Weezer fans have a blast at these shows this summer. The tour runs until September 3, so folks might still be able to get tickets!”

Alec has also been busy with a new Kickstarter campaign which was recently 122% fully funded. The goal of the campaign was to fund the printing of a 192-page hardback book that will collect stories four through six of ISLE OF ELSI.

“I’ve always self-published all of my comics. Usually, when I have enough minicomics done to make a book, I collect them into a print-on-demand collection and just put it out there,” said Alec. “But for certain projects, such as ISLE OF ELSI, I really want the finished book to be something special, so I use Kickstarter to help me raise the funds to pay for a big offset printing bill. This latest collection will be hardback, in full color, and will match the size and quality of the first ISLE OF ELSI collection. Thanks so much to everyone who backed the project or helped me spread the word about it!”

Alec launched ISLE OF ELSI in 2016 as a free fantasy web-comic for kids. It features dragons, wizards, talking wolves, and lots of fun wordplay, including alliteration, puns, and silly rhymes.

Congratulations, Alec!
