A Cartoonist Veteran Project: A Whole Lifetime of Firsts anthology

July 1, 2018

Every woman who has served in the military has a whole lifetime of firsts to share. This anthology spans half a century, beginning with the Cold War and ending with the War on Terror.  It contains love at first sight, witnessing death for the first time, realizing you may be losing a loved one, and finding community.

Ranging over decades and continents, these stories have one thing in common – every story comes from someone connected to the White River Junction VA Medical Center. This anthology exists because of a happy accident: the White River Junction VA is in the same town as The Center for Cartoon Studies, a world class cartooning graduate school. But it also exists because of the trust built between local veterans and the White River Junction Women Veterans Program.
