Description:

Intermediate Comics is a dynamic, action-packed 5-day immersion designed for adults and college students eager to sharpen their visual storytelling skills. Whether you’re exploring comics for the first time or building on existing creative practice, this workshop provides a structured, goal-oriented environment—with an optional for-credit track for undergraduates students.
Led by Eisner-award winning cartoonist and creator of the groundbreaking workbook Cartooning: Philosophy and Practice, Ivan BrunettiIntermediate Comics combines focused lectures, targeted demonstrations, and hands-on classroom exercises to help participants develop both foundational cartooning techniques and a distinctive artistic voice. Throughout the week, students receive individualized guidance as they shape an idea, refine it through constructive critique, and progress toward a small-scale but fully realized independent comics project.
By the end of the workshop, participants will not only deepen their understanding of narrative and visual craft, but will also walk away with the knowledge and support needed to self-publish their own work. This is an intensive built for makers—fast-paced, inspiring, and designed to turn creative goals into tangible outcomes.
