06.18

The MoCCA preparations are keeping me up late into the night, every night. Plus I've started teaching camps this week, so I'm up at 6:30 in the morning and still working on my comics at 11 at night. Ah well. I just hope I'm not burned out before the convention even starts.

06.11

Roosevelt Park is on a short hiatus as I put all my energy into getting my new comic book, Staff #1, ready for MoCCA Artfest in 2 weeks. Here is a close approximation of what the cover looks like.

06.04

Busy Busy Busy. I thought I would have some time to rest after graduation. I guess I did. But that's all over now! BACK TO WORK!

5.28

Sorry for the late posting. Memorial day weekend has totally skewed my sense of time and place. God only knows what kind of havok Labor day will wreak upon me.

05.21

Well, I graduated Cartoon school this past weekend. It's an odd feeling, since my class was the first ones at the school. I've only ever done any serious cartooning as a student, and now I'm not a student anymore. Am I a professional? Hardly. Well, not yet anyway. Or at the very least, not as much as I want to be. Which simply means, it's time to get to work.

05.16

I apologize for the lateness. These things have been known to happen during graduation week. On the bright side, I had my thesis review today and I have fufilled the requirements of the program of study at the Center for Cartoon Studies. So yes, I will be an honest-to-goodness graduate come Saturday.

05.14

I had to do a round of edits on the art I put up in the Illustration section of the site last week, so those edited files will be up in the next couple of days. The strip won't be finished until tonight, so your best bet is to check back tomorrow morning. And a bonus strip will be coming later in the week.

05.07

The new stuff for this Monday is over in the Illustration section of the site (a double dose of Roosevelt Park will be back next week). The new illustrations were made for the Dartmouth ILEAD department's brochure for their summer lecture series. I'll be adding the 5 I have now, and 4 more throughout today and tomorrow. The lecture series is on Congress, so we tailored the illos to the lecture topics in political-cartoon style drawings.

04.30

The first Sunday-format edition of Roosevelt Park. It will be appearing in the CCS "Sundays" anthology, coming out in June, as well.

04.23

Today's strip is Roosevelt Park strip #50. I've been doing this for nearly a year, believe it or not.

04.18

Due to TAX DAY the strip won't be up until Wednesday this week.....but now it's Wednesday! And my taxes are done and in the mail yesterday! And I didn't owe the government any money!

04.09

Word just came in, the strip will be appearing monthly in the Windham County Commons newspaper, so that's good news. They're online at some web address or another, so the comics they run will be up there as well as here starting next month. Woo!

04.02

It's already April. A month and a half until graduation. I got a lot of work to do between now and May 18th.

03.26

I stayed up late, worked my fingers to the bone to get this strip done for my loyal fans. You know who you are. All 2 of you.

03.19

Spring Break!!! Wooooooo! Strip will return next week.

03.12

Strip will be up a day late this week due to physical exhaustion.

03.05

The comic is finished, but I don't have enough time to scan it before I have to be at work. It will be up around 9 or 10 tonight. It looks like Roosevelt Park will begin running in a monthly paper up here in VT/NH. Nothing's set in stone yet, but I'll post details when I get them.

02.26

New comic. Isn't that news enough?

02.19

It was so cold this morning, that when I tried to open my car door, the handle broke off in my hand.

02.12

I draw too slowly. Not that this is news, but it re-occured to me today, so there it is. Big ups to Caitlin Plovnick. Her comic, Creepy Loser, has been flying off the shelves at IKJK.com. Both issues (to date), #1 and #2.

02.05

Ugh.

01.29

Still playing around with site design a little bit here and there. I tried shrinking the bar at right to allow for the comics to be larger. If the white w/ blue bar at right hasn't shrunk, it will cover the comic. So far it has looked good in Safari and Firefox, but in IE the bar stays wider but gets put at the bottom of the page, below the last Past News item. If the bar is still blocking the comic for anyone, send me an e-mail and let me know, and I'll get back to tweaking it.

01.21

I'm going to be messing around with the web design on and off, so e-mail me if stuff looks weird or isn't working on your browser. I'm checking everything in Safari, so if you have IE or Firefox and things are wrong in there, I won't know unless you tell me.

Got 1 new drawing up in the Illustration section, along with this new strip here.

01.09

Sorry for not having this up yesterday. I kind of forgot this week was the week I was supposed to start back up on the strip. On the bright side, I got a good chunk of work done on my thesis yesterday while I wasn't doing the strip I was supposed to be doing.

12.18

I'll be on break for the holidays next week, and then the week after that is New Year's so I probably won't have anything for then, either. I need a break from the strip to get a bunch of work done on the thesis and the distro site. But January 8th, I'll be back in full force and better than ever.

The distro site is now functional!! Go now to: www.iknowjoekimpel.com !!!! And though it is (we think) is perfect working order, we're still messing around with the design. So while it's not 100% where it will be in terms of looks, you should be able to buy books without a problem.

Also, new illustration work up in the Illustration section of the website, check it out!

11.27

I planned my time better this week. Hopefully, someday, I'll be able to get these updates done before noon. Don't hold your breath, though.

11.21

Day late, I know. Sorry

11.13

I'm in a rush today, first day of my new schedule at work. But here's the new strip, just under the wire.

11.06

Hey everyone, not much to say today.

10.30

Aplogies for my unannounced hiatus last week. Things have been very hectic, with me starting a new job, continuing the illustration gig for the Valley News, and a couple other projects I've been working on.

10.16

We are putting up a new website that will link directly to here, and eventually be the place to buy comics and original art maybe from yours truly. Go to www.iknowjoekimpel.com to check it out. It's just under construction now, but is coming along rapidly. Check out the other artists, too. Ken Dahl just won the Ignatz Award for best minicomic, Monsters #1, which will eventually be for sale on the site too. More artists to come as well.

In the meantime, enjoy the new RP.

10.08

Not much going on today. There should be the news concerning website stuff up later this week. I'll let everyone know. Other than that, I'm just trying to get a lot of work done.

10.02

I twisted my ankle playing flag football today and it hurts. Also, I am now working on my 3rd illustration since the start of September for the Valley News. It should be running this Saturday, so if you can get your hands on a copy, go for it (this is not the aforementioned "news," that will be coming probably next week).

I also made a font of my own handwriting. Hooray for me.

9.25

I'm 37 minutes late. I'm a great big failure and you all have every reason to hate me.

I had to get new brakes on my car today. Car repairs suck.

9.18

It's late in the day, yes, but it is up on the right day. May this be the start of a new trend, an indication of future deadline to be met, future Mondays full of new comics. There should also be some good news coming in the next couple weeks, so stay tuned.

9.13

New strip. Extenuating circumstances. Regular schedule to start soon.

9.6

Day late, I know. I wanted to get a lead before the wedding, but got an illustration job from the local paper to turn around in under 2 days. Huge full-color drawing ran in the Saturday paper. I'll have the drawing up in the Illustration section of the website soon.

9.5

Just got home from the Griggs & Huisman wedding in NC. Congratulations, guys.

Working on the strip today; hopefully will have it up this evening.

8.29

Here is the new re-drawn strip, finally. Much higher quality. Only the best for you guys.

8.28

11 PM: So I drew and inked the strip. And it sucked. I didn't spend enough time pencilling, and the new strip has Brett and Kevin, and i haven't drawn them in a while. And the art came out looking like monkey poo, and I'm too disappointed with it to put it on display for people to look at. I'm going to re-draw the strip tomorrow, from scratch, and do it well this time, and then put it up on the site.

8.28 Morning:

Hello everyone, I just got home from my summer in Montreal. It's been a little confusing with everyone speaking English and all.

The move has been a tad hectic, and I've been running around non-stop since I got here, but I should still get the strip done sometime tonight, even if I have to stay up late to do it.

8.21

I'm on time this week!!! I'll try to get the strip up while I'm at work, but failing that, it will be up by 6:30 this evening at the latest.

8.16

Sorry folks, it looks like I messed up when I tried to post the comic at work today. They don't have all the same programs as I'm used to and I must have done something wrong someplace. Will re-scan and re-post tomorrow.

8.11

The new strip will be a day or two late due to some unexpected travelling I need to do this weekend. Apologies.

8.07

For those of you looking at the blank new strip, that's just a placeholder for right now. I'm just about to leave for work, and hopefully I can get the scan in early. But I also have to make about 150 pages of scans for a new book, and I have to get those done first. So the strip may come at the end of the day.

Shout out to Fired Up, currently on their North American tour. If I have my days straight, they're playing in Detroit tonight. If I can get a web address or something from them, I'll have it featured on the links in the Contact Section.

Continued shout out to Joey Russo, now the official #1 fan (Family doesn't qualify). I got a nice boost in traffic from Joe's link on his MySpace page, so thank you Joe.

7.31.06

Hey everyone, just back from work, got the strip scanned on time this week so here it is. Flat tire on the bike this morning, so I had to take the stupid bus. You may think, hey, it's kind of hot and humid, so a chance to sit without pedaling might be nice for a change. Wrong. It isn't. The bus sucks, biking rules.

7.25.06

Go to: http://www.scifi.com/pulse/ to check out Amazing Screw-On Head, pilot for a new animated series based on Mike Mignola's comic.

7.17.06

Hey, I'm back! And in Montreal!

New comic finally! Hooray! Hello to anyone and everyone checking the site out who got the web address at the wedding. New posts every Monday night, that's the protocol, and I'm sticking to it from here on out, so keep coming back to check out some hot, fresh, new comics.

7.14.06

Hey, I'm back! And in Montreal!

Sorry no new comics yet, but hopefully I'll get things going again on Monday. I should have the work done, it's just a mattter of the computer stuff all working out. Maybe not until Monday night.

6.26.06

Sorry everyone for the late post, but I saved inking this week's strip until today so I could do a inking demo for CCS's "Create Comic Workshop, at which I am working this week as the student assistant.

And, unfortunately, I am going on a little mini-hiatus as I am going to my brother's wedding in Hawaii. While I probably will have a little time to get some work done, I won't have access to scanners and Photoshop and so on, so I won't be able to post anything. I will be back on the mainland on July 10th, and plan to resume regular posts then.

6.18.06

I decided to put the "New Stuff Every Monday" right at the top for everyone. Although I do update Sunday, but it's usually late Sunday night, so if you check on Mondays, everything will already be up.

New comic up 10:45 Sunday night, for the Monday deadline. Pete and Kat are going to be featured for a bit. Still molding these characters, so feedback is welcome.

6.16.06
I had another comic up yesterday, Thursday, as you can see above.

Congratulations to Hazel Wood, an athlete I help coach from Thetford Academy. Yesterday she just completed a decathlon, as far as I know the first decathlon completed by a Vermont high school girl. Congrats for stepping up to the challenge, and congrats on a little piece of history, and congrats on what I believe is the state record.

6.12.06
Apologies for forgetting to post the new strips before heading to Mocca. It's 3 a.m. on Monday morning right now. I just got home about 15 minutes ago.

If you're checking out the website after getting my mini at Mocca, thanks for visiting the website. The strips up right now are the same as the ones in the mini, but new ones are coming soon. I update Sundays, but sometimes late Sunday, so Mondays are the best days to check back.

And this week I'm putting an extra strip on Thursday so people don't have to wait until Monday. (New story thread too!)

6.08.06
New comic up today. Another one coming tomorrow, and another Sunday night once I get back from NYC. I said there would be four more, but in lieu of the 4th I'm working on character bios, then I can set up a kind of Roosevelt Park homepage, maybe actually by a .com once I can guarantee a little more regularity.

6.06.06
OOOOOOOH! It's 6/6/6!!! So scary! And we just finished a project on the Jersey DEVIL! Spoooooooooky!

Comics up 10 minutes before midnight, yeah deadlines. It's planned for a bunch more strips to be up before the weekend....... 4 more, to be exact. Hopefully 1 per day before I leave to NYC for Mocca.

6.04.06
Sorry everybody, it's crunch time on the Bissette-led project I've been working on, so no comic today. But I will make up for it by having 2 new comics up by Tuesday night!

5.28.06
New comic up at 11:58 Eastern Standard Time. Still Sunday! Deadline met!

5.22.06
I spent all Sunday night, when all the best cartoons are on TV, getting my Sunday strip done and ready to go on the website. Then my computer wouldn't connect to the server and I couldn't update. I had to trash my version of Fetch and reinstall this morning to get it to go through.

5.17.06
Revamped the Comics section of the website tonight! Content is the same, but I was able to format it differently. The changes may not look like much to the observer, but rest assured they represent another big step forward in my web design/programming abilities.

I also got the next strip up tonight, Wednesday night, despite the rain, some spilled ink, and back problems. Although, to be fair, the back thing happened to somebody else. I just got a new project with a few drawings and a lot of lettering to do, and two track meets and a pong game scheduled for this weekend, but I will still make sure to get at least 1 new strip up Sunday (though most likely late Sunday).

5.14.06
It's Sunday again, and I got 1 new strip up today. The 2nd one for this week will come Monday or Tuesday; final art is already in progress as of this post.

5.07.06
Second comics up today! Actually, it's the first I wrote, but the second one I inked. Point is, there are now two comics up. School is over for the year, and I'm trying to spend a lot of time on my comics. I want to have a series of these finished for Mocca in June, along with a new mini. Meaning I want to finish a lot of new work in the next month.

5.04.06
So I got my first comic up a lot quicker than I expected. Check back, new strips hopefully twice a week. Let me know what you think, and if you like it, tell your friends to visit!

5.03.06
I put up a counter! So visit every day to see how many people have visited my site. Also, I don't want to look really pathetic with no hits on my site. The comic strip is on the way, first one should be up by the end of tomorrow. We'll see how it goes, but hopefully there will be updates two or three times a week. Feel free to e-mail me feedback on the strip, too.

4.30.06
I'm compliling 20-30 samples of my new comic strip for everyone to see. Hopefully I'll get some of the best dailies up here for everyone to look at. The strips are written, and the final art has been started, so visit again in the next week or two to check them out.
