(New York, NY) Judith Hansen, a 20-year trade book publishing veteran with companies including Simon & Schuster, NAL, Crown, Doubleday,
and the comics and graphic novel publisher Kitchen Sink Press, has been appointed to The Center for Cartoon Studies advisory board.
Hansen, an intellectual property lawyer, brings to the school considerable agenting and licensing experience negotiating book, magazine,
TV, film and merchandising deals. As VP, Deputy Publisher of the legendary Kitchen Sink Press, she supervised sales, marketing and licensing of comics and graphic novels,
working with creators including Robert Crumb, Will Eisner, Scott McCloud, Mark Schultz, Eddie Campbell and Alan Moore.
After living in Sydney, Australia, for several years, Hansen became a founding partner in the Kitchen & Hansen Agency, which represents comic artists and graphic novelists.
She is also an agent with Marly Rusoff & Associates, Inc. a literary agency in Bronxville, New York, representing commercial fiction and non-fiction.
The Center for Cartoon Studies
Beginning in the fall of 2005, The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) will offer a two-year course of study that centers on the creation and dissemination of comics,
graphic novels and other manifestations of the visual narrative. Experienced, internationally recognized cartoonists, writers, and designers will teach classes.
The school is located in the historic downtown of White River Junction, Vermont.
